Kat Frankie, Home. Fuori il video del singolo estratto dal nuovo album che uscirà a febbraio su Groenland Records
Si intitola Home il nuovo singolo di Kat Frankie. Il video anticipa l’omonimo album in uscita a febbraio 2018 per l’etichetta berlinese Groenland Records.
«Ho scritto Home poco dopo le proteste #blacklivesmatter. – afferma la cantautrice – Nel frattempo, in Germania e Australia si infiammava il dibattito sulle unioni civili. – prosegue – Sono disgustata dalle persone che vogliono controllare le vite altrui attraverso la paura, per motivi di religione o per l’orientamento sessuale. Pensavo a come queste proteste siano state censurate o messe a tacere. Pensavo a come tutti meritino un posto dove poter sperimentare l’amore e dove potersi sentire amati. Ho visualizzato l’idea di una casa, non intesa come spazio fisico, ma come il stato mentale sia di autoaccettazione, sia di accettazione dai parte della società».
Il video di Home è un omaggio a Rhythm Nation di Janet Jackson. Pubblicato nel 1989, Rhythm Nation è una protesta pop contro le discriminazioni razziali e le ingiustizie sociali. I ballerini di questo video iconico, ambientato in un magazzino immerso in un’atmosfera distopica degna di “Metropolis” di Fritz Lang, sono vestiti con uniformi unisex, per celebrare la parità di genere.
“Il mio brano affronta le stesse tematiche. E’ folle che in vent’anni non sia poi cambiato molto, non è vero?” si domanda Kat Frankie. “Mi sono ispirata al video della Jackson, facendo qualche passo in più. Ci sono due mondi in Home: uno azzurro, scuro, monocromatico, dove le persone non hanno individualità, ma sono cloni inanimati. L’altro è il mondo rosa, un’utopia festosa dove chiunque può esprimersi ed essere se stesso”.
Antonin Pevny, regista di Bonaparte e Bilderbuch tra gli altri, ha immaginato questa dualità esprimersi in verticale, con un “sopra” e un “sotto” separati da una linea immaginaria di controllo sociale, simboleggiata da un trampolino elastico, dove i ballerini riescono a volare.
I ballerini che compaiono nel video sono i migliori della scena berlinese e la coreografia è curata da Lyn Lim.
Il direttore della fotografia è Dylan Doyle, già in numerosi video di Christine and the Queens, che ha creato giochi di luce, flash e bagliori direttamente sul set e in-camera.
